Description
Want some Roof Hootch? Harness up a Blitzen, and you’ll be one short drive away. Blitzen is a rooftop beverage chiller that combines the powers of cold weather and your commute to form a most innovative take on refrigeration.
The vehicle roof rack, which creators Deeplocal say can hold “anything from Veuve to a growler full of IPA,” takes that last-minute bottle of booze you grabbed on your way to the party, and chills it to drinkability using winter temperatures, and the wind you generate as you drive.
Deeplocal says Blitzen was born out of necessity and warm Prosecco. There’s not a lot of information about how the roof rack prevents carbonated beverages from exploding upon opening post-chill, or the design of Blitzen itself (aside from “100 pound magnets, aluminum rails, all that”) but I’d imagine those questions will be answered when the product becomes more than a preview.
At printing, Blitzen was still prancing around production. If you want notification when and if the rooftop beverage chiller becomes available, sign up for email updates on the Deeplocal website. In the meantime, check out the Chill-O-Matic, a tabletop automatic drink chiller that can do the job to a can of beer in about 60 seconds.
