Cannonball Beer Growler

BOOM! Father’s Day gift for Dad, done. And your sister will never think to pair cannonballs and beer like Terracotta Republic did with this sweet ceramic growler, so even if you lost Mother’s Day to her, you’ll definitely win the Day of the Dad.

The Cannonball Beer Growler is a handmade piece on stoneware clay, featuring a mottled texture, weatherworn-cannonball glaze, and cam-lever top. It holds up to 1/2 gallon of brew and, with a low surface-area-to-volume ratio, fits better in the fridge or cooler than growlers with the same capacity.

If you want a little physics with your beer, Terracotta Republic replicated Robert Hemingray’s bottle top invention for the Globe Canning Jar Company (1886) with their cam-lever. The top’s offset axis of rotation converts circular motion into a downward linear force, so when you rotate it into the jug’s mouth, the cap makes an airtight seal against the extra-thick silicone gasket.

Cannonball dimensions are 6″ x 6″ x 9″; weight is 3-1/2 pounds.
