Rather than compromise sound quality with an attempt at waterproof earbuds, the Neptune incorporates hydrodynamic head clips that transmit audio via bone conduction–through the wearer’s cheekbones directly to the inner ears. The MP3 player itself has 4GB of storage to accommodate large libraries of music or, for the overachieving distance swimmers and triathletes out there, full audio books and podcasts.
The Neptune has a 3-piece design consisting of 2 side speakers and a high-contrast OLED operation screen. Speakers attach to goggle straps and the screen sits on the back of the head, flashing the current song, artist, and play status throughout use. The underwater music maker’s rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery has a standard play time of 8 hours.
