Description
No electricity, no batteries, no gas, just a lever and a couple of water pumps. And you. The Nomad is a completely manual espresso machine that claims to make champion-barista-quality shots inspired by classic hand-operated lever issues. The Nomad’s foundation is a Micro-Lever that brewers press in a seesaw motion to activate a pair of piston water pumps. The pumps build up pressure with just a few strokes, and once the 8- to 10-bar recommended ideal is reached, you’re ready to percolate.
The Nomad measures just 6-1/2″ x 6-1/2″ x 6″ and weighs about 2-1/2 pounds, so in addition to suiting at-home users without enough countertop space for a big fancy machine, it will bring true cafe espresso to the office, on the road, or into the great outdoors. In addition to the Micro-Lever mechanism, the Nomad incorporates interactive pressure control, with a gauge to reflect total bars, and a true crema valve to compensate for coffee grounds and tamping variations. In other words, the machine says it will pull a perfect shot every single time.
