Description
One thing that would make Jolene Carlier’s Popcorn Monsoon better is if all the popped kernels actually landed in the bowl when they dropped out of the bottom of the machine’s Mario pipe. But since the invention is still just a concept, I guess she has time to perfect the details.
As it is, the Popcorn Monsoon’s shape and design place it well outside the standard confines even of a category that has seen a wide range of interpretations. From the stovetop to the campfire to the AC outlet I think the only other popcorn popper I’ve seen that touches Carlier’s same level of imagination and whimsy is the Popinator, a popcorn launcher that shoots the succulent clouds of corn directly into the eater’s anxiously awaiting piehole.
With the Popcorn Monsoon concept, Carlier hopes to add playfulness in making to a food often associated with playfulness in eating.
