I’m not much of an outdoorsman. I mean, aside from the occasional paintball fight and walking to the bus stop. So being at the top of a mountain doesn’t really appeal to me. But having the top of a mountain in the bottom of my pint glass? Oh hell yeah. I’ll climb, conquer, and stake my flag in that shit in 3 seconds flat. And then–breathless, exhausted, tears in my eyes–I’ll thank North Drinkware for giving me the opportunity to do it.
North Drinkware’s debut landmark pint glass features Oregon’s Mt. Hood, the state’s highest peak at 11,250 feet. American-made and custom-blown, this 16-ounce beauty molds its precise mountain replica into the glass’ base, making for pretty stunning visuals both when empty and full. Looks cool when the volcanic pint runneth over too.
Mt. Hood formation en glasse began with folding United States Geological Survey data into a 3D model of the mountain for use as the pint’s mold. Accurate depictions of ridges, canyons, and the peak create a swell live action show as beer cascades around the slopes during pouring.
North Drinkware chose Oregon as its flagship pint as a nod to the state’s extensive beverage production industry. Oregon houses over 180 brewing companies that operate over 225 brewing facilities in 71 different cities around the state. Portland itself boasts the most breweries of any city in the world. Down the line, North Drinkware plans to expand the geography of their pint glasses’ geological formations, including signature natural wonders from Washington, Vermont, Colorado, and California.
