Or maybe not so ironically, since both are techniques commonly employed by spies and evildoers seeking world domination. Muahahaha. But you can use the SATDUP11 simply to upgrade your existing hard drive, duplicating the old 2.5/3.5″ SATA onto a new one at speeds of up to 14GB a minute without a host computer connection. Then use the StarTech standalone’s eraser feature to wipe your original before recycling or selling it on Craig’s List.
The StarTech duplicator/eraser can also delete 2 drives simultaneously in one or a combination of the following modes: Quick Erase; Secure Erase; and Single-Pass/Three-Pass Hard Drive Overwrite (DoD). The Three-Pass option passes over the hard drive 3 times to ensure a complete data wipe. SATDUP11 duplication also has a choice of Data Only, All Partitions, or Sector by Sector modes.
The hard drive duplicator and eraser supports 2.5″ or 3.5″ form factor hard drives (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD), as well as SATA revision I/II/III drives.
